International and national networks - promoting members' interests, influencing decisions, providing information
The co-ordination and influencing of interest-promotion activities on the European and national level require efficient and flexible operating models and procedures. The Finnish Public Services Unions' EU Working Party (FIPSU) co-ordinates the activities of nine Finnish trade unions in their work to promote members' interests at the international level.
Our statements and views are based on studies, research, and solid knowledge and experience obtained through the representation of members' interests on the national level. One voice and joint views enhance our chances of making a change. Together we can accomplish things more efficiently and save resources. By working together we can learn from each other and understand each other better.
FIPSU has drawn up reports on issues such as those relating to the mobility of labour and services and the effects of European legislation on public services in Finland, and has closely followed the introduction of Public Private Partnerships in Finland. Statements on these issues have also been provided to various Committees of the Finnish Parliament. FIPSU also produces surveys and reports by international trade union organisations in Finnish to enable wider national discussion on issues relating to the safeguarding of public sector interests at the international level.
